Look what I just won!
I got a call this morning notifying that I’ve just won a Canon PowerShot SD450 Digital Camera. Apparentlly I entered a Ultra-Sheen Back-To-School Contest (Sheen is a character from Jimmy Neutron on Nickelodeon) a while back.
Looking the camera up on WalMart.com, it retails for around $300. About $100 more than the Kodak z700 we’re about to purchase.
I enter so many contests, I can’t keep track of them all. But I always say…”You can’t win if you don’t play!”.
So this puts me in a pickle…
- I didn’t plan on winning this camera – who could?
- I’ve already purchased a battery charger and batteries (about $50 total) thinking that I’ll need them for my Kodak. The Canon takes a LiOn battery. The only up-side to this is that I can use the AA’s and AAA’s for my wireless Xbox controllers and other misc. items around the house
- I have no clue as to when I’ll get the camera. I was hoping to have one by Christmas but talking with the prize company, it’s an unknown.
- The Kodak was going to be purchased with Tracy’s 20% off discount at Wal-Mart that we only have 1 week to use or loose it…now we need to find a replacement item to buy
So much to think about and not a lot of time to do it in.
I can guarauntee
- a widescreen HDTV is out – the money’s just not there…no matter how much credit I have laying around.
- an Xbox 360 would be dumb to buy since I should be getting free one shortly
So I’m not sure. Tracy an I will have to put our heads together and figure it out.
Which reminds me, I’ll need to post what I want for Christmas. Stay tuned.

I’m pretty sure you should buy the camera you wanted, and then sell the one you are winning on ebay.

We’ve decided to keep the Canon (better screen, higher resolution, more capabilites, smaller form factor). We’re going to use the money for something else like a TV and DVD player for the kids; I think.
