Pope’s Speech Angers Muslims

Thursday, September 14th, 2006

Source Article Here

The gist:

Questioning the concept of holy war, he quoted a 14th-Century Christian emperor who said Muhammad had brought the world only “evil and inhuman” things.

A senior Pakistani Islamic scholar, Javed Ahmed Gamdi, said jihad was not about spreading Islam with the sword. [emphasis mine]

Funny, I don’t recall any Muslims running around saying, “Allah/Muhammad loves you”.

Apparently Michelle Malkin thinks the same way I do – I just said it before she so eloquently posted.

Assassin’s Creed announced for Xbox 360

Friday, September 1st, 2006

Found this article over at Team Xbox.

This should be filed under “No duh!”.

So now the PS3 fanboys can stop gloating. The next one to fall from “vapor-exclusivity” will be Mercenaries: World in Flames which still hasn’t been announced for the 360 (to my knowledge - correct me if I’m wrong please) but I’m sure it will.

So this leads me to this comment, you’ll see very few exclusive titles in this generation.

Am I anticipating this title? Not really. Haven’t heard too much about it so it’s not on my radar. Maybe as launch time comes closer.

Stupid Headlines

Headline #1

iTWire – Microsoft to release HD DVD Xbox in 2006: Toshiba exec

My response…So what? Yeah it’d be cool, but MS will not be releasing games on a HDDVD; it can only be used for movies, plus it’d raise the cost of the unit. Won’t happen. You’ll see an external HDDVD drive, as MS announced at E3 for around $150.

And straight from the horse’s mouth over at GamerScoreBlog.com. See, I told you!

Headline #2

Sony to win with Blu-ray by sticking to its guns – iTWire

Yeah…from the same site (must be a trend). When has any company succeeded with a product that nobody wanted to buy? Oh I’m sure there’s some examples but Sony doesn’t have a good track record when it comes to competing formats.

What does “sticking to its guns” have to do with Blu-ray succeeding? Sony doesn’t seem to be giving-up-the-ghost yet. Are they suddenly going to say, “Ach…we give up! We can’t tough it out!”? But I will guarantee that they will stop selling them if the market no longer wants it or some other format wins out **HD DVD**. But in about 3-5 years and a standard has been settled on (and it may not be Blu-ray), will Sony continue to “stick to its guns” even though nobody wants it? That’d be the stupidest business decision in the world! Give me a break.

This whole competing formats thing is a double-edged sword. Not only does the format need to win the approval of the movie studios, they need to win the pocket books of the consumer. This will all shake out in 3-5 years; we’ll see if Sony’s still “sticking to its guns” then.

Give me some of your tots!

WOAI: San Antonio News – Teen Shot in Fight Over Tater Tots

If you’ve ever seen Napoleon Dynamite (and you should), you’ll get the joke (yeah, I’m sick and demented).

What the cartoons were about

Friday, February 3rd, 2006

It was suggested by Michelle Malkin to post a link to the “forbidden Muslim cartoons”. Here it is.

New Zealand’s source for World News on Stuff.co.nz: What the cartoons were about

Okay muslims…time to put your cards on the table and show us how peaceful you really are.
